This year’s ATA conference in Palm Springs was a huge success. More than 1,500 language professionals came from all over the world, representing dozens of languages. I attended several German-specific sessions, among them a most interesting presentation by Dietlinde DuPlessis (https://www.desertdirndl.com) about “condensing strategies” when faced with character limitation in the context of subtitling and PowerPoint text boxes. It was also great to see old friends and make new connections.
