Language is constantly evolving, and every year there is a large number of new words. The German language with its tinker-toy possibilities is particularly conducive to generating new words, and some of them are a direct result of current movements and political topics.
A panel of German linguists have chosen the Unwort des Jahres (un-word of the year) 2019 to be Klimahysterie (climate hysteria). This word has been chosen because it “defames climate protection efforts and the climate protection movement, and discredits important discussions about climate protection.”
